The town of Vohenstrauss can again use its Fahrenberg spring unrestrictedly, thanks to its investment in a fully automatic filtration and UV system. The town, located in the Upper Palatinate Danube Hills region of Southern Germany, installed a state of the art, fully automatic ultrafiltration system (UF system) and a UV system in the high-level tank under the Fahrenberg hill, which came into operation in 2004, both systems now reliably guaranteeing germ-free, clean drinking water.

Around 28,000 trade visitors from around the world discovered the latest products and services in the international water industry from 700 exhibitors from 35 countries at the Berlin Exhibition Centre from 2nd to 5th May. Europe's only exhibition dedicated solely to the water sector shone with its high visitor numbers and a rise in international trade visitors from 25 to 33 percent.

Bottled water is produced in Bulgaria - water treatment systems were unable to prevent microbiological contamination during the bottling process. ProMaqua replaced the existing systems with its own ozone systems and the result is germ-free drinking water of the highest quality.

The filtration of water is one step in the treatment of swimming pool water. This also applies to the Frauenfeld indoor and open-air pools and whirlpool in the Swiss canton of Thurgau. Flocculant is added to the water to ensure optimum filtration performance, enabling substances to be filtered that were initially unfilterable.

Water is essential for manufacturer handling with food. It is additive, cooling liquid, cleaning medium and more. Due to this it must be 100 percent clean and germ-free. That has been the problem: Fattorie Osella, an Italian dairy company part of the international group Kraft Foods, needed to use 200 mc/h of microbiologically controlled water within its facility. Water, to be used for secondary purposes, without getting in contact with the end product, showed little microbial-related problems, in particular the presence of Pseudomonas.
